South American Football.

South America and their Football.

Many people will suggest that the South Americans have created some of the finest football players in the world and the question is why?

There are many answers to the question and one to start of with is that South America is quite poor in a lot of places compared to somewhere like Europe and because they are poor this means that the kids have more time to go outside and play football as in Europe kids go to school and have work to do. This leads to practise for the kids in South America which helps them to develop their skills in football.

Why is football so popular in South America?

One reason to suggest is that to play football all you need is a ball, two goals and 22 people. This means that poor people can generally afford to play to game which leads to them playing it constantly. The country Brazil is nicknamed " The country of Football" to many as over 10,000 Brazilians are playing professionally world wide and millions upon millions play it on the street. Another reason is that because Brazil is so good at football this encourages more Brazilians to play football which leads to the sport being more popular.

The difference between brazil and Ireland in terms of Football.

Almost every single football player has had a different up bringing in their past however they have all turned out to be professional football players but some are obviously better then others.

Neymar:

Neymar da silva santos junior was born in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on the 5th of February 1992 ( aged 22). Many people have tipped Neymar to be the best football player in the world when he is older and right now he is already up their with the best.
Neymar had started with a rather poor up bringing and his family did not have a lot of money, he would regularly though be out playing street football throughout the day. He was spotted by a scout as someone who had huge potential and in 2003 he moved to Sao Vicente with his family and he joined the Brazilian football club known as "Santos FC".  This movement had caused a huge improvement in his quality of life as he was now earning 10,000 reals every month and by the time he was 16 he was now earning 125,000 reals per month.
Many people believe that the one of the reasons behind Neymar's huge talent at football is the fact that he played so much everyday all day, In Brazil football is the most popular sport and at Neymar's age back then there was not a lot to do so he would generally spend his time playing football outside with his friends, by playing football so much this would of given him lots and lots of practise and would of started a passion for his love of football to which would also help him improve.

Here is a picture of Neymar playing for Brazil in the 2014 World Cup.

Some people might ask the question as to why are Brazil a much better country at football then a country such as Ireland and answers to that question would simply be that Brazil have a much larger population then Ireland which stands at 200.4 million and Irelands stands at 4.4 million which means that there are more football players to choose from in Brazil which means a higher chance of a good player and another reason would simply be that really the only sport that Brazil likes or plays is football as that is their main sport where as in Ireland many different type of sports are played so not everybody wants to or plays football.

The Continents of the competitions of where football is played.

Football is played around the world in different competitions split up into six major continents around the world, This means that those continents will generally play each other for international football matches. (International football matches are matches that are played country vs. country instead of team vs. team).
The continents are as follows, Africa, Asia, Europe, North central America and South America and finally Oceania football confederation.

The club competitions in each continent are:

Africa plays the competitions Confederations cup and super cup for club competitions.

North America plays American champions league.

Asia plays AFC cup and the presidents cup.

Europe plays the Champions league, Europa league and super cup.

South America plays Copa libertadors, Copa sudamericana and R. Sudamericana

Oceania plays Eastern Champions League.

They are the club cups and the national cups are as follows.

Africa plays the African cup of Nations.
North America plays Gold Cup.
Europe plays European Championship and Regions Cup.
Asia Asian Cup and AFC Challenge cup.

This diagram of Africa below shows in the African Continent which parts of Africa play with them selves for matches for club and country competitions. For example yellow will play with yellow and green play with green for matches mainly club games.

                                 The colours represent:

Yellow is West Africa.
Green is North Africa
Blue is East Africa
Red is Central Africa
Gold is South Africa

This diagram represents the Asian continent and who plays who and its the same idea as the African one.
The countries with the same colour will play mainly countries that also have that same colour, this gives an idea about how organized football is around the world and the countries that play it.

The rules of football

The rules of football are simple. Let me begin by saying that there are two teams and on each team there are 11 players that start and seven players on the bench that don't start and there will also be a referee and two assistant referee's who are know as lines men. The teams will usually flip a coin on who takes tip and the team that takes tip will involve two players from that team standing in the center of the pitch at the center spot and will roll the ball to the person standing beside them and when that person has the ball they then pass it to one of their teammates and its game on and this is how it starts. The teams are made up of 4 sections which are know as attackers, midfielders, defenders and a goalkeeper. As the name suggests this is what the player in the category will try to do throughout the duration of the match. If the ball goes out of play by lets say "TEAM 1" then    "TEAM 2" will get ball possession by throwing it back into play if the ball goes out on the sides of the pitch or it will be a corner to that team who didn't knock it out if the ball goes out of play at the ends of the pitch where the goals are. A corner is like a free kick except there is no wall and it is takes at the corners of the pitch and the player will kick it into the box of the opposition and then they will try to score a goal.
Football is generally played outside in the open in any type of weather rain, snow or just sunshine. The weather has also known to have an effect on the game of football as sometimes the rain can wet the pitch so much that the game is unplayable and that the match has to be called off or it can make the ball slide along the field more then usual or the players can slip on the pitch and this can turn the tables of any game.
Professional football is always played in a stadium that contains many thousands of people. The stadiums are always different and come in many shapes and sizes ranging from holding 10,000 people to 100,000 people depending on how big it is and how much money the football team has that it can invest into the stadium. Obviously the colours will vary with what team is playing but they all wear football boots, socks, shin pads, shorts and the jersey.

The Introduction to Football and its geography.

               The Geography of Football

Football is the most popular sport in the world today and has been for many years. On average 250 million people will be playing the game right now as you read this from around the world.
The game started out not know very well by people and no one called it football back then as during the 1rst and third centuries BC was when identical games such as "Cuju" which was played in Asia in countries such as "China" in military exercises and the first evidence of football in Europe was a game called "Episkryos".
The rules were also slightly different back then as the game involved more handling of the ball then kicking the ball and in football to date you are not allowed use your hands as this is considered a foul in the game. Football first appeared in England in the eight century and back then it was not popular at all however as time started to go by the sport began to get more and more popular and the rules started to change as people started to prefer to use there feet instead of their hands and they found this more enjoyable. The very first and oldest competition in football today is known as the "FA Cup" and was founded by a man named " CW Adcock" and has been played by the English teams since 1872.
As technology has developed more and more over the years it has become certain that football is developing into a better sport as we know it today, Today we have goal line technology known as "Hawk Eye" which is used in matches to determine if the ball did actually go into the goal in certain circumstances and there is also a shaving foam spray that is used to stop the wall creeping when it is a free kick. ( the wall is a line of people 2-5 who stand in front of the player taking the free kick to try and stop him scoring.)  Football is played all over the world and grows and grows every day as more and more people learn about it, so by saying this I am telling you that football is not just some local thing played by a group of kids it is fact a very professional sport that is played in almost every single county in the world today. This picture represents the area of where the sport football is played on. As you can see the area is fairly large and the length of a football pitch is about 90 meters or 100 yards and also you have a team either side of the pitch.
